The Ogun State government under the leadership of Governor Ibikunle Amosun has declared that it has put necessary machinery in motion, to ensure a smooth and hitch-free handover to the next administration in the state on May 29, 2019.
Taiwo Adeoluwa, Secretary to the State Government, stated this at a Joint Transition Interface Committee meeting between the state government and members of the Transition Committee of Governor-elect Dapo Abiodun, led by Deputy Governor-elect Noimot Salako-Oyedele, at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta.
According to the state’s scribe, who is also the leader of the government team, a Transition Committee saddled with the responsibility of preparing a ‘’comprehensive, truthful, adequate and meaningful hand over notes’’, that would serve as a guide to the incoming administration, had since last December, at the instance of the governor, been set up.
He disclosed that present administration had been working to ensure a smooth hand over process and had been exchanging correspondence with the incoming administration after the election, dispelling insinuations in some quarters, that government was not interested in forming the committee.
“It is not true that government was not willing to set a transition committee. In fact, the governor had set up a committee, which had been working since December 2018. As I speak, the Government House, Oke-Igbein and the Presidential Lodge are ready, while the government quarters would be ready a week before May 29’’, Adeoluwa said.
Corroborating, Salako-Oyedele said there had been cordial relationship between her team and government after the election, expressing optimism that there would be a seamless transition.
