Why Saraki And Atiku Will Decamp Before 2023 General Election

Bukola Saraki and Atiku Abubabakar

A Former President of the Senate in the 8th Assembly, Senator Bukola Saraki and a Former Vice president of Nigeria Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will decamp before 2023 election if the PDP fail to put its house in order.

An Anonymous political analyst in the PDP said this on Monday in Adamawa state, the North eastern part of the country, while answering questions from newsmen. Senator bukola saraki became the second governor of Kwara state under the PDP and served the state for two terms between 2003 and 2011. After serving two terms as a governor, he contested under the PDP and won the Senatorial position for Kwara central in 2011. Due to internal crisis and disagreements in the PDP under Former president Goodluck Jonathan, Saraki and his loyalists left the party and form alliance with members of the ACN, CPC, APGA to form the APC. The strong alliance was successful and Goodluck Jonathan was defeated by the APC presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari.

After the election of President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Bukola Saraki colluded with Pdp members in the National assembly to become the Senate President against the wish of the Party, Senator Ahmad Lawan was the Party’s choice but, Senator Bukola Saraki betrayed the party and became the Senate president of the 8th Assembly.

Alhaji Atiku is also a very powerful and heavy weight politician when it comes to politics in Nigeria. Atiku has been eyeing the presidential seat since 2007 after Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999. Alhaji Atiku is popularly known for defection. He decamped to the ACN in 2007, when he had a disagreement with his boss, President olusegun obasanjo, he lost the election to Late Umaru Musa Yaradua, after losing, he decamped again to PDP for the second time. In 2011, he contested in the PDP primaries but lost to the then acting president Goodluck Jonathan. Atiku didnt give up on his presidential ambition, he decamped again and form alliance with the APC in 2014 and lose the party ticket to President muhammadu buhari in the primaries in 2014.

During the end of President Muhammadu buharis first tenure, Atiku, Saraki and others decamped to the PDP again, Atiku lost to the incumbent president, while Saraki lost to the APC candidate, Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe. Atiku and Saraki are currently in PDP and nursing different politicial ambitions.

Unfortunately, the current PDP governors are in total control of the party structures in the state, Atiku and Saraki are no longer favorites in the party. As a result of this, the duo will decamp to the APC or form an alliance before 2023 election.
