2023 Presidency: Nigerian President of Igbo extraction is a sine-qua-non for Equity – PDM National Chairman

ABUJA-The National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), Hon Chief Frank Igwebuike has said that for Nigerian Government to uphold the Principles of equity, fairness and Justice in Governance in 2023 Presidential election it must work towards ensuring that a Nigerian President of Igbo Extraction emerges Victorious.

Chief Igwebuike spoke today in his office the party’s National Secretariat in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, while addressing some group of Journalists on the State of the Nation.

He noted that the Nigerian President of Igbo extraction is long over due if we must exist as a nation nutured with the mindset of Unity, progress, development and Justice, borne without ethnic prejudice or the notion of majority domination of minority ethnic nationalities.

Chief Igwebuike while given instances on the past Nigerian Presidents from the six Geo- political zones of the country which included amongst others: North -West, President Mohammadu Buhari, South -West, President Olusegun Obasanjor, South- South, Goodluck Jonathan, that other two Geo- political zones from the North such as North Central loaded with past Presidents the likes of Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, and Abdusallam that North East had equally produced the first Nigerian Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa, but none has come from the Igbo extraction such as Delta State, Edo State, Rivers State, Kogi State, Benue State and all States in Igbo Land since the inception of Democracy in Nigeria, adding that equity breeds trust and sustainable development.

He then appealed to Nigerian citizens, and political Stakeholders, political parties in Nigeria, Youth and women groups, Civil Society Organizations, Professional bodies, and other critical Stakeholders in the country to support the call for the emergence of Igbo President in 2023.

He opinned that the call has become necessary if we must remain United as a country that this present administration should heed to this call so as to avert political instability, disintegration, ethnic fracas and other bickerings capable of plunging the nation into uncontrollable pandemonium as the country is not owned by only section of the country.
