Senator Dr. Victor Umeh on Thursday urged Political Parties and Nigerians across the country to support the South East to produce the next President in the 2023 general election.
Senator Umeh who represented Anambra Central on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance – APGA in the 8th Senate made this plea on African Independent Television – AIT.
“In the National Conference we agreed on Power Rotation. Presidency shall rotate between the North and South, and across the Geopolitical Zones.
“In 1999 it was Obasanjo from the South-West. In 2007 it was Yaradua from the North-West even though he died Jonathan the Vice from the South-South step-in and completed and ran for four years again and won.
“After him (Jonathan) it returned to the North-West again through President Buhari and he’s completing eight years by 2023; so is now going back to the South by that rotational arrangement and South-West and South-South has gone there.
“It is the turn of the South-East and Nigeria will benefit with a President from the South-East.” Senator Umeh said.
