NNPP Faction Explains Collapse of Marriage with Kwankwaso

Agbor Major, a factional leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), shed light on the reasons behind the collapse of the political alliance between the party’s leadership and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. Major cited Kwankwaso’s alleged attempt to hijack the party as the primary cause for the dissolution of their association.

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Major revealed that the party’s leadership provided Kwankwaso and his followers with an opportunity to appear before the party’s board before their eventual expulsion.

He emphasized that being the presidential candidate of the party did not exempt Kwankwaso from the party’s constitution, and the decision to expel him was in accordance with the party’s rules.

Major elaborated on the unexpected turn of events, stating, “We went into this marriage in good faith. They tried about four political parties, including the PRP and Accord party but failed. The leaders of these parties are my friends. I know how the discussions started and collapsed. It was because of zeal to come and occupy what you have not sown.”

He disclosed that when Kwankwaso approached NNPP, the party’s leadership, being reasonable, provided him with a chance. However, the factional leader emphasized that the collapse of the political partnership was a result of Kwankwaso’s alleged ambition to seize control without adhering to the established principles of the party.
