UKPO- The Senator Representing the good people of Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Dr Tony Nwoye has commended the Traditional Ruler of Ukpo, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Dr Robert Eze, Prince Engr Arthur Eze and the good people of Ukpo for their effort in preserving her cultural heritage through the celebration of the annual Ofala Festival held in Ukpo Dunukofia Anambra State, yesterday being 23rd December, 2023.

The Senator who joined other dignateries like : Igwe Robert Eze (Okofia VI), Prince Engr Arthur Eze (Ozoigbondu) and the good people of Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area in celebrating their 2023 Ofala Festival, underscores the importance of traditional institutions in maintaining history and traditions of the people.

The 2023 Ofala Festival of Ukpo community is the thirty-second (32nd) since the enthronement of Igwe Dr Robert Eze.

The ofala festival also attracted many Political Leaders like Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, Deputy Speaker of Nigeria House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu,Senator Kelvin Chukwu of Enugu East, Inspector General Of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Chief Dr George Moghalu, Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo, Most Rev Dr Valerian Okeke, Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Captains of Industry, custodians of Our culture and many others.

The Senator whose arrival at the venue was greeted with cheers, paid homage to the monarch, in total display of honour and humility.

Speaking further at the event, Dr. Nwoye commended the monarch for the auspicious milestone attained so far since ascending the throne of his forefathers about 32 years ago, saying that his over three-decade reign has recorded many positives with the sole purpose of fast-forwarding an ancient traditional society to that of a 21st century Society.

Continuing, the Senator opined that Okofia The VI’s reign has witnessed peace, prosperity and development of Ukpo Kingdom.

Nwoye prayed for continued good health, wisdom and sound mind for Igwe Robert Eze (Okofia VI), noting that longevity is a divine gift, and thanking God for bestowing it on the frontline royal father.

This year’s Ofala which was well attended by dignitaries and top government functionaries featured display of Royal dances, parades, and music, in full view of all present, with lovely dancing steps before his subjects, interest groups, and victors who paid him their respects.
