The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, informed the public that the number of fatalities from the Christmas Eve attacks in the state has now surpassed 115.

Mutfwang made this announcement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

He condemned the unprovoked attacks and called on the security forces to identify the masterminds behind the violence and their bloodthirsty followers.

As earlier reported, a horrifying series of attacks occurred on Christmas Eve, with assailants targeting more than 15 communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas.

The terrorists not only set numerous houses on fire but also looted crops and vandalized property while ruthlessly murdering innocent residents.

“Just when we had finished preparations for Christmas, unprovoked attacks were unleashed on our communities.

“As I am talking to you, in Mangu Local Government alone, we buried 15 people. As at this morning, in Bokkos, we are counting over 100 corpses. Not to talk of that of Barkin-Ladi,” a sombre-faced Mutfwang narrated.

The governor, who described the attacks as “unprecedented and monumental”, noted that though the assailants intended to break the spirit of the people and pull down the two local governments, they remained unfazed.
