President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently presiding over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in 2024.

The council meeting taking place at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, is the first FEC in 2024.

Before the commencement of the cabinet meeting, the President administered oath of office to Ambassador Desmond Akawor as the new Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission, representing Rivers State.

Akawor is replacing Asondu Wenah Temple, the former RMAFC Federal Commissioner from Rivers State, who recently passed on.

The scheduling of the first council meeting of the year was approved by President Tinubu, as Monday coincided with the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The meeting is being attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Ministers.

The FEC is a constitutional institution where ministers discuss and endorse government policies, with the President serving as the Chairman and the Vice President as the Vice Chairman.

At the August 29 FEC meeting, Tinubu unveiled an eight-point agenda to revive the country’s ailing economy.

President Tinubu had said that the eight-point agenda was based on eight priority areas, with identified targets that would be delivered in the next three years.
