Sanwo-Olu Inspects National Theatre Rehabilitation Works, Commends Bankers Committee

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, visited the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (National Theatre, Iganmu) on Sunday, August 11, to inspect the ongoing rehabilitation works.

This was disclosed in a post by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor, Jubril Gawat on Sunday, August 11.

The post reads:”Today, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr #jidesanwoolu was on an inspection tour of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts (The National Theatre, Iganmu), which is undergoing massive rehabilitation works by the Bankers Committee.

“The Bankers Committee led by the then CBN Governor, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government on the 14th February 2021 to revamp the National Theatre, while the facility was officially handed over to the committee on the 12th of July 2021.

“The restoration of the National Theatre is almost completed with a World Class 5,000-seater main amphitheatre, flanked by two world-class cinema rooms, 3000-seater banquet hall, exhibition halls, VIP Spaces, creative hubs, Green rooms, over 300 toilets and much more.

“Mr Governor commended the Bankers Committee for the putting their huge resources in bringing back the glory of National Theatre, Lagos, and added that the newly renovated facility, which will be ready in 3-4 months time, will be one-stop shop for the Creative industry as a whole.
