A clear distinction exists between junketing and productive networking. While the latter offers dividends to the people, the former gulps revenue from the treasury. The former was the case of Imolites and her commonwealth during the shortlived PDP-led administration of Emeka Ihedioha, with no notable achievement recorded from his tourist visits across the world.
A chronicle of the tourism visitations of Emeka Ihedioha during his illegal occupation of Douglass House revealed a cumulative of over 650,000 nautical miles of unproductive international travels at the expense of public funds. No single Direct Foreign Investment was attracted by Emeka Ihedioha, not even local / indigenous investment!
In April 2019, prior to his swearing in, Emeka traveled as a Governor-elect to London. The next month, May 2019, Emeka traveled to Germany and Russia by June 2019 for Birthday parties; France same June of 2019. As if that wasn’t enough to satisfy his desire, Emeka traveled to the United States in September 2019 and Turkey in November of 2019. Later again in December 2019 to the United States. All these, just within the short-lived period.
In fact, he showed up at the premises of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), uninvited, and having been denied access, waited outside for photo ops with the participants!
Quite unlike the ousted one, His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma went on a productive visit to Abuja which has yielded result in the area of approval of funds for the control of three ecological sites in the state, approval of N1b Tetfund project by the President for Imo State Polytechnic, among others.
There are levels in the approach to governance and networking, for the good of the people. Gov. Uzodimma has the understanding and he’s approaching it appropriately with positive results for Imolites. It’s quite obvious that the opposition is jittery over their steady loss of popularity, confidence and trust from the people and therefore seeking recovery with spread of fallacy.
His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is poised to reposition Imo State to her pride of place as the Eastern Heartland and the Land of HOPE.
