Ghanaian authorities have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against cybercrime with the arrest of 32 Nigerian nationals involved in an alleged romance scam syndicate.
The suspects were apprehended at dawn during a joint operation by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and National Security in Kasoa Tuba, on the outskirts of Accra. Officials described the raid as part of a broader, coordinated effort to dismantle organised cybercrime networks operating within the country.
According to the authorities, the suspects were allegedly engaged in large-scale online romance scams targeting victims across multiple jurisdictions.
The Ghanaian government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Cyber Security Authority in intensifying enforcement actions, warning that the country will not serve as a safe haven for cybercriminals.
“We will continue to support the Authority in its efforts to do more, as we make Ghana an unattractive destination for cybercrime,” officials said.
