A 33-year-old woman, Olaide Adekunle, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly selling her baby girl in Lagos State. According to reports, Adekunle, a resident of Sango in Ogun State, travelled to Lagos on March 15 with her infant, Mordiat Rasak, but returned home without the child.
Adekunle’s husband reported her disappearance with their baby, prompting police involvement. During interrogation, Adekunle confessed to selling the baby for N600,000 to settle a loan from a microfinance bank. The case has been transferred for further investigation, with efforts underway to recover the infant.
This disturbing incident raises questions about accountability and the factors that drive individuals to such desperate actions. The complexities of poverty, debt, and desperation require a nuanced understanding and response. Ultimately, determining who bears the greatest responsibility – whether Olaide Adekunle, her husband, the microfinance bank, or the broader societal and economic context – is a matter of interpretation.

The country’s situation is chaotic,we’ve never had it these BAD! None the less criminal intentions is more dastard to bear. Masses should just rise up with one voice address issues promptly.
