7 Alleged Drug Barons, Others Arrested in Jigawa Operation

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested seven suspected drug barons along with other suspects in a series of operations conducted across the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Dutse, the state capital, by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.

According to the statement, the arrests were made between July 27 and August 1, 2025.

The operations were intelligence-driven, leading to the recovery of significant quantities of illicit drugs, vandalised property, and stolen vehicles.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the officers and men of the command for their swift and effective action.

We will continue to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all,” he stated.

The statement highlighted that the command’s achievements during the period included the arrest of suspected vandals, burglars, and motorcycle thieves.

In Birnin Kudu, a suspected vandal was apprehended with vandalised cable wires believed to be government property.

In Kazaure, three suspected burglars were arrested in possession of stolen Android handsets.

The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

The command also foiled a motorcycle theft in Gujungu village, recovering the stolen motorcycle.
“The suspect, Jibrin Muhammad, is currently under investigation, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices,” the statement added.

In Dutse, seven suspected drug addicts and dealers were arrested with large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit substances.

The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting the police with further investigation,” the statement noted.

In the Ringim area, a suspected drug baron was also arrested with sizable quantities of Indian hemp and other banned substances.

The suspect will be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for prosecution,” SP Adam said.

Similarly, in Hadejia, two more suspected drug dealers were arrested with a significant quantity of illicit substances.

“They will also be handed over to the NDLEA for discreet investigation and prosecution,” he added.

The police also arrested two suspected tricycle thieves in Taura LGA and recovered a stolen tricycle.

“The suspects, Nazifi Ahmed and Salma Haruna, remain in custody and will soon face the full wrath of the law,” Adam stated.

In Kiyawa, five suspects were apprehended with illicit drugs, including D5 and Exol tablets.

“The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation,” the PPRO said.

The police command urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and actionable information.

The CP warned drug dealers and other criminal elements to steer clear of the state or risk facing the full weight of the law.

“We will not relent in our efforts to rid the state of crime and ensure a safer environment for all”, the statement concluded.
