The strike by Nurses and Midwives under the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, has cripples medical services at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi,(BSUTH), as the strike enters its 8 weeks.

The state chairman of the Association, Comrade Kershio Tahav, however, expressed optimism that the industrial action would be resolved anytime soon.

Comrade Tahav said the Union is in talks with the state government over the plights of nurses and midwives, highlighting non remittance of pension deductions, salary arrears for nurses since 2024, promotion shortfalls, statutory allowance and some others as some of the issues the Association is protesting.

The strike will be 2 months on Wednesday, 21st January, 2026. The Nurses and Midwives of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi went on strike over demands they described as legitimate, and that requires government urgent attention if they must return to their duty posts.
