Speaking at a recent engagement at John Hopkins, Washington DC, 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi emphasized Nigeria’s untapped potential in both human and natural resources, highlighting the country’s youthful population as a key asset.
He criticized the current political structure, advocating for a single five-year presidential term to reduce inefficiency and promote accountability.
Obi also called for a shift away from the American-style governance system, suggesting a hybrid model like Indonesia or South Africa’s proportional representation to ensure presidents remain answerable to the people.
“When you choose public life, the public must know where you are,” he said, urging transparency and accountability in leadership.
