Prominent social commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has announced a ₦1 million reward for anyone who can reveal the true identity of a social media user who made a disturbing and violent post about Peter Obi’s wife and children.
In a strongly worded statement released on Monday, Omokri condemned the comment, which reportedly included a prayer for Obi to “bury his wife and children”, calling it a dangerous escalation of political toxicity and an attack on decency.
“Please, can you, as a patriot and lover of justice, help reveal the identity of this person? For making such a threat against Peter Obi’s wife and children, he or she must be prosecuted for such a statement,” Omokri wrote.
The outspoken critic, who has himself previously faced similar threats directed at his own family, said he is willing to transfer the ₦1 million reward to an independent third party to hold in trust until credible information that can lead to identifying the offender is provided. He also assured whistleblowers of complete confidentiality.
“We must rid Nigeria of this type of toxicity. Our society will not devalue human life because of politics,” he added.
