Kemi Olunloyo Blasts Verydarkman Over Ingratitude, Vows to Withdraw from Activism

Kemi Olunloyo and Verydarkman

Controversial journalist and social commentator, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo, has taken to Facebook to call out online activist VDM (VeryDarkMan), accusing him of ingratitude and disrespect, and vowing never to advocate for arrested individuals in Nigeria again.

In a lengthy and emotionally charged post, Olunloyo expressed disappointment over what she described as VDM’s deliberate refusal to acknowledge her efforts during his numerous legal ordeals. She claimed to have used her voice tirelessly across seven platforms to advocate for him during four different arrests over a one-year span, even at great personal cost—without any financial benefit.

“You acknowledged people who fought for your release but carefully excluded me,” she wrote. “That says you are ungrateful.”

Olunloyo also alleged that VDM plagiarized her #IJMohbad tweets during his investigative series on the late singer Mohbad, criticizing the influencer for returning to the case for social media engagement and financial gain rather than truth-seeking. She said unlike him, she stayed on the case with personal sacrifices, including depleting her life savings.

She further lamented VDM’s controversial interviews with Mohbad’s father and a pharmacy staff, describing them as unhelpful and potentially damaging to the pursuit of justice.

Dr. Olunloyo stated that she would no longer fight for detained Nigerians, reflecting on her own experiences and expressing frustration with online disrespect. She ended the post by praising real activists like Deji Adeyanju, Charly Boy, and Omoyele Sowore, who she said used their voices effectively and gratefully.

“I dislike fake people,” she concluded.
