A wave of shock and sorrow has gripped the business and social media community following the confirmed death of Anambra-based entrepreneur, Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known online as “Fish Magnet.”
Onyekere, who was reportedly abducted days ago by unidentified gunmen, was confirmed dead after the kidnappers allegedly ended his life in captivity.
The tragic incident took place on Saturday night in Okpuno, a quiet suburb near Awka, the Anambra State capital. Eyewitnesses recounted that the heavily armed assailants stormed Onyekere’s residence in Ezinifite Village at around 10:30 p.m.
The attackers, who arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, reportedly shot Onyekere in the leg before forcefully abducting him using his own navy blue Toyota Corolla. The gunmen were said to have fled through bush paths leading towards Nawfia.
Local sources revealed that efforts were ongoing to locate and rescue Onyekere, but the outcome turned tragic as his death was confirmed, throwing family, friends, and fans into mourning.
