In a heartfelt show of compassion and national solidarity, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has pledged the sum of ₦1 billion under the Renewed Hope Initiative to support families affected by the recent massacre in Yelewata, Benue State, where over 100 lives were lost.

Senator Tinubu made the announcement during a condolence visit to the community, where she met with grieving families and community leaders. She described the attack as a “national tragedy” and extended her deepest sympathies to those affected.

“I am here not just as the First Lady, but as a mother and a fellow Nigerian who shares in your pain. What happened here is heartbreaking, but I urge you all to remain resilient and united in the face of adversity,” she said.

The ₦1 billion donation, she explained, will be channelled through the Renewed Hope Initiative, a social intervention programme designed to provide immediate relief and long-term support for vulnerable Nigerians. The funds are expected to be used for the resettlement, rehabilitation, and livelihood restoration of displaced families.

She assured the community that the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring the security of lives and property across the country, while also calling for communal harmony and collective healing.

The visit by the First Lady was met with gratitude and renewed hope from residents, who described the gesture as timely and reassuring in the midst of their sorrow.
