My Silent Bullion Van, Girlfriend of Slain Fish Seller Pens Emotional Tribute

Girlfriend of Slain Fish Seller

The girlfriend of the young fish seller who was recently kidnapped and murdered in Anambra State has broken her silence, emotionally narrating the heart-wrenching events that led to his death.

According to her account, the tragic incident began on the night of Saturday, July 26, 2025, when she last spoke to him around 9 p.m., unaware it would be their final conversation. The next evening, Sunday, around 10 p.m., he was reportedly shot in front of his family house and abducted by unknown gunmen.

His family was immediately contacted by the assailants, who demanded a ransom of ₦10 million to be paid within 20 minutes. Despite the urgency, his mother (“mumsi”) managed to raise and send the money before the midnight deadline.

However, communication from the kidnappers went cold until 4 a.m. on Monday morning, when they directed the family to St. Matthew Catholic Church to retrieve the victim. Upon arrival, his mother and sister found him barely clinging to life. He was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, he was declared dead shortly after arrival.

Later that Monday evening, his car was found abandoned in Amobia, while his bank and digital wallet accounts had allegedly been cleared by the culprits.

The grieving girlfriend, identified as the co-founder of his business ventures MG Bodybang, Fish Magnet, and MG Logisticsshared the deep emotional bond and years of struggles they endured together. From surviving financial hardship in 2023 to building thriving brands from scratch, she described him as “the most humble man I ever knew… my silent bullion van.”

She mourned deeply for his mother, his siblings—Dex, Chebe, and Kasie—and questioned how to move forward from such a devastating loss. Her poignant tribute has since stirred waves of outrage and sorrow on social media, with many Nigerians calling for justice.

Investigation into his death is ongoing.
