Agents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have allegedly invaded the Green Legacy Hotel, situated within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library grounds in Abeokuta, Ogun State, apprehending several young individuals believed to be involved in internet fraud.

It was gathered that the raid occurred early Sunday morning amidst a pool party hosted at the library’s venue.

This operation took place just five days after officials from the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC arrested a suspected internet fraudster carrying two homemade firearms during a raid at K-Hotel in the Itori area of Ewekoro.

The agency stated that this individual was among 55 others taken into custody during that Wednesday operation.

A widely circulated video from the Sunday raid at the Obasanjo Library depicted youths fleeing in panic as gunfire erupted nearby.

The agents allegedly detained numerous young people and confiscated over 20 luxury vehicles along with other high-value possessions.

An X user, A. Ayomide, shared, “I literally left my house just after midnight to head to OOPL. Upon arrival, the crowd was overwhelming. I wasn’t comfortable with the situation, and my friend felt the same way, so we remained in the parking area.

“We left at around 1:30, and just 20 minutes after arriving home, I received calls informing me that the EFCC was raiding OOPL. ”

Vitalis Ortese, the Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, acknowledged the incident but did not elaborate on the specifics.

“Yes, it happened. There was an event this morning. We will investigate further and keep you updated,” he stated to our correspondent.
