
The Federal Capital Territory Administration has promoted 49 Deputy Directors to the rank of Director across various departments, following the approval of Minister Nyesom Wike.
The promotions, announced in a statement on Tuesday, came after the release of results from the first-ever Computer-Based Promotion Examination, conducted on August 12, 2025, at the National Open University, Duste-Alhaji Study Centre in Bwari Area Council.
According to the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, the exercise was designed to clear the backlog of promotion arrears from 2023 to 2025 for workers on Grade Level 16.
“The Federal Capital Territory Administration has promoted 49 Deputy Directors to the position of Director in various departments, moving from Grade Level 16 to 17.
“This was consequent upon the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike’s approval of the release of the result of the first-ever Computer-Based Promotion examination held at the National Open University Duste-Alhaji Study centre in Bwari Area Council, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
“The promotion examination was done to clear the backlog of promotion arrears of 2023 to 2025, for workers on grade level 16,” the statement partly read.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Eze, explained that the new directors will fill 49 of 63 declared vacancies.
He noted that the Education Officer Cadre had the highest number of successful candidates with 20, followed by the Accountant Cadre with nine.
Other cadres, including Civil Engineering, Social Welfare, Tourism, Fisheries, and Medical Officers, had one vacancy each, filled by a single eligible officer.
“Out of the 49 promoted, Education Officer Cadre had the highest of 20, followed by Accountant Cadre, which had nine.
“While Civil Engineer, Social Welfare, Tourism, Fisheries, and Medical Officers Cadres had one vacancy and one eligible officer each, the Education Officer cadre had 820 eligible officers for 20 vacancies, while Admin had 12 eligible officers for 10 vacancies,” Lere said.
Recall that the FCTA had announced the conduct of its first-ever CBT model for the promotion exam, to ensure transparency and eliminate undue influence.
A 60 per cent minimum pass mark was set to speed up result processing and make the process fully compliant with technology-driven standards.
