OSIMHEN

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his impressive start to life in Turkey by scoring in back-to-back games as Galatasaray maintained their perfect start to the Turkish Super Lig season.

The 25-year-old doubled the score in the 65th minute with a bullet header from Abdülkerim Bardakcı’s cross as the reigning champions secured another victory to maintain their 100 per cent record.

Davinson Sanchez had opened the scoring in the 20th minute from a Gabriel Sara assist as Galatasaray extended their dominance in Turkish football.

Meanwhile, in the Premier League, Super Eagles stars Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, and Calvin Bassey all suffered defeats in their respective fixtures. Onyeka bagged an assist as Brentford lost 2-1 to Sunderland on Saturday, with the Nigeria international providing the cross that set up Thiago in the 77th minute for the opening goal.

The Bees had earlier missed a penalty through Schade in the 59th minute before Sunderland equalised through Le Fee’s spot-kick in the 82nd minute. Wilson Isidor scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to seal maximum points for the hosts.

At Stamford Bridge, Iwobi and Bassey were both in action as Fulham fell 2-0 to Chelsea. Bassey played the full 90 minutes, whilst Iwobi was substituted in the 84th minute.

Goals from Joao Pedro and captain Enzo Fernandez secured Chelsea’s first league win of the season, with Pedro heading home from Fernandez’s corner in first-half stoppage time before the Argentine converted a penalty in the 56th minute.

Fulham thought they had scored when Josh King found the net in the 21st minute, only for VAR to rule it out for a perceived foul by Rodrigo Muniz on Trevoh Chalobah.

The results leave Sunderland sixth in the table after their second win in three games, whilst Chelsea moved temporarily to the top with seven points. Fulham dropped to 14th with two points from their opening fixtures.
