The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says over 2.5 million Nigerians have completed their online pre-registration in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

In a statement issued after its regular session on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Commission disclosed that as of Sunday, August 31, a total of 2,532,062 citizens had pre-registered online.

INEC revealed that women account for a slight majority of the figure, with 1,313,580 (51.88%), compared to 1,218,482 men (48.12%). It further noted that 63.29% (1,602,484) of registrants are youths between the ages of 18 and 34, while 25.57% (647,528) are students.

The Commission reiterated that online pre-registration alone is not valid until applicants appear in person at designated centres for biometric capture. It urged pre-registrants to visit any of its 811 State and Local Government offices across the country to complete the process.

For Nigerians without internet access or those preferring direct registration, INEC assured that its centres are open for in-person registration daily, from 9am to 3pm (Monday to Friday).
