The Federal Capital Territory Police Public Relations Officer (FCT PRO), Josephine Adeh, has expressed deep concern over the growing trend of men abandoning their marriages and hastily taking second wives.
Adeh noted with dismay that rather than embracing patience, reconciliation, and endurance in resolving family challenges, many men are opting for what she described as a “quick escape” that often leaves children and wives emotionally stranded.
“What happened to sitting down and working things out for the sake of the children? Have we lost the will to fight for love, peace, and family?” Adeh lamented.
She likened the new trend to a consumer craze, saying, “Is ‘second wife’ now the new iPhone that every man wants to upgrade to?”
According to her, the increasing cases of broken homes not only weaken family structures but also have ripple effects on society at large, as children from unstable homes often bear the brunt.
Adeh urged men to prioritize dialogue, compromise, and reconciliation in their marriages rather than resorting to polygamy as a quick fix. She emphasized that families deserve more than temporary solutions, stressing that enduring love and peace are the foundations of strong homes.
