Fresh indications have emerged that the late Social Democratic Party (SDP) Governorship Candidate in the 2024 Ondo State election, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), may have been attacked prior to his death.
This follows the circulation of a photo released by Savannah News Now showing the late politician with visible bruises on his body. The image, which has since gone viral on social media, was shared with the hashtag #JusticeForOBA, sparking outrage and calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Until his passing, Otunba Akingboye was widely known as a respected businessman, philanthropist, and political leader. Earlier today, his family confirmed that he died at his residence in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos. The family’s official statement, however, did not mention any signs of foul play.
The viral photo has now fueled speculation, with many supporters and political observers insisting that his death must not be brushed aside. Some commentators have called on the police and relevant security agencies to launch an immediate inquiry to ascertain whether the bruises were linked to an attack.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the family nor security operatives have formally addressed the viral photo or the allegations of possible foul play.
The development has thrown the Ondo political landscape into deeper mourning, as associates, students, and community members continue to pay tribute to the late Otunba Akingboye while demanding clarity on the circumstances that led to his untimely death.
