……Uche Ekwunife, a woman who defied the odds to attain great heights; both in the banking halls and politics…..
“Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, and for the people”; Abraham Lincoln
One political writer said in the 19th century, that one day, “democracy will be asking for too many things; women affirmative rights, black votes, white supremacists, gay rights, etc..”; today we have all seen what democracy is asking all these and more. More should be asked.
Many democracies have the institution of free speech explicitly written in their constitutions. In America, it is known as the THE FIRST AMENDMENT. In Nigeria Section 1 on the constitution guarantees freedom of association, …and speech.
All of us who observed the American 2024 elections saw the force of rhetorics that emanated from the candidates. Some were hilarious, others were veiled threats, while many were damn insults. THEY ARE EATING CATS, THEY ARE EATING DOGS, THEY ARE EATING PETS; we saw it come from a presidential candidate. He is a fascist; we saw it come from a presidential candidate. The election were held. Now the government is in place. In four years, the American people will go back to the polls.
I love what President Obama said recently: that rhetorics emanating from the White House is unfortunate; how can the president refer to some American citizens as vermons, or criminals; who should be dealt with; all these are unfortunate rhetorics. After election, the society must continue.
The Anambra State governorship election has been scheduled for November 8th this year. All the political parties have their candidates and deputies. The campaign is on high speed. The candidates are vying for every available vote.
Thousands who will vote are making up their minds who they will vote. Voting takes different patterns. Some will vote a candidate because he or she is a brother, a sister, a church member or such other kindergarten and kpalakpo reasonings. Elections and campaigns should be based on issues; what a candidate will do, or is doing, that will attract votes. This is what it should be.
However, some of us who are well known as Political Strategists, Consultants or Analysts are watching with nostalgia the kind of political stratification and propaganda emanating from different camps.
LIES AND INNUENDO AGAINST SEN UCHE EKWUNIFE WILL NEVER STAND
“Dancing to the gods; I will use my 30k followers to damage Uche Ekwunife’s political career beyond repair”; I saw this by a supposed educated person working for Professor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, the governor of Anambra State, as SA who I am supporting all round. But let me say this, no human can destroy the political career of Uche Ekwunife. This assertion is both careless and a sin because if you fight against God, you are a sinner.
Gov Soludo should call these kinds propagandists dishing out lies and innuendo against a woman I know since she was two years. If I don’t know Iyom, such lies will be believed by people. And anybody believing such political innuendo should have his or her head examined.
The Prof Chukwuma Soludo will not authorize nor condone these kinds of INNUENDO and lies, just to support his re-election. No. Prof Chukwuma Soludo is too decent for this. These people should be let off from supporting him. I will not count myself into these category of fortune hunters. I am supporting Soludo because I didn’t find it convenient to support the candidate of APC.
I have been a political Strategist and consultant to so many candidates in the past. I have worked for President Yar’dua, Goodluck Jonathan, ATIKU Abubakar, Hon Dom Okafor, many PDP and APGA candidates at various levels.
It is well known that in the past immediate 2021/22 and 2023 Anambra State Governorship election and general elections, I consulted for Sen. Uche Ekwunife, (CON) Iyom. Uche Ekwunife is my younger sister. We grew up together. I have associated with her and family, since when I was six after the civil war. My father is a cousin to Mother Lucy Ogudebe. (I know all her sisters or nieces and nephews) for years. We have both family and later political relationships.
In this 2025 Governorship election, I am not against her person, I am not just supporting the APC ticket. I have written so many articles, and prompted many people to support my preferred candidate; Prof Chukwuma Soludo CFR, our incumbent governor. I have many reasons why I do that, many I have said in my political write-ups and analysis.
However, the recent political altercations coming from various camps, people, candidates or spouses deserved much to be said about. I have read, listened, and observed the body languages of many who are talking about many issues not related to campaigns or elections, and I am amazed, disappointed to say the least. None of the people talking about Sen Uche Ekwunife knows her. I am not saying that Uche is a saint, but she took extraordinary steps to accomplish all she did, defying all odds and characterizations.
Sen Uche Ekwunife is a young lady brought up by a praying loving mother. She defied all odds, as the 10th child of an 11 all girls children. She went to school. I know her schools from primary school to Secondary and University. As a child, we were attending church at her father’s compound in Igboukwu, the church which Uche Ekwunife’s mother brought to Igboukwu; the United Church of Christ, UCC. All the prophesies about Uche Ekwunife came to fulfillment. Our Apostle then, Apostle Samuel Egbo prophesied to Mother Lucy Ogudebe about Uche. I heard the prophesies. Iyom is a child of grace and destiny.
I know her record from the Financial institution where she worked at graduation to all the banks she served before becoming a manager of Standard Trust Bank; which was later merged with United Bank For Africa. Uche Ekwunife brought innovation and resilient in the banking industry in Awka.
Hundreds of families are today enjoying food on their tables because of Uche Ekwunife. Uche got her kindness through her mother.
Hundreds of youths were given employment through the support of Sen Uche Ekwunife, when she served in the House of Representatives and later Senate. She attracted multiples of projects, also which are visible and verifiable. Despite the fact that Igboukwu is not part of her constituency she extended many projects to igboukwu and other communities in Aguata. It shows selflessness not for political gains.
Those who benefitted from the political largesse of Uche Ekwunife are still alive enjoying those things. The youths trained through her Scholarship Foundation Schemes still have their certificates, and enjoying their works or businesses.
I have always said that Uche Ekwunife is an Amazon of accomplishments. That’s her nature. These are things inbult in her through family and relationships.
I believe it is time all these “iko onu” will stop. Let the innuendos and propagandas written or said in the past end now. I will take up my pen to defend Sen Uche Ekwunife from now if candidates don’t face the campaigns as it should, and continue telling the masses what they will benefit in regimes they are planning for, or what more they will continue to expand what have already been done My conscience will not allow me keep quiet when lies, fabrications and propaganda are being spread against someone I know too well right from her childhood and to what she has become today.
IYOM IS A GOLDEN FISH. IFEKAOLADO IS A DISTINGUISHED SENATOR. ADAUGO IGBOUKWU IS A MOTHER WHO HAS DONE A LOT TO LIFT PEOPLE UP. SHE IS A PRICED WOMAN IN THE POLITICS OF NIGERIA Any further attack on her will not be tolerated. Enough is enough.
May Anambra State keep progressing.
