Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, has broken his silence on the mysterious disappearance of Celine and Afiba, two young women who traveled from Port Harcourt to Aba to visit fugitive, Andrew Ochekwo.
In a detailed statement, Gwamnishu outlined how he became involved in the case, the dangers he faced, and the unanswered questions still surrounding the investigation.
According to him, his involvement began with gathering testimonies from some of Ochekwo’s alleged victims and traveling with one to Abuja to aid police investigations. He revealed that information from Aba and the police team prompted him to assist further, leading to grim discoveries in Ogbor Hill, Aba, Abia State, where a decomposed body was found.
Gwamnishu recounted the police extraction that led to Ochekwo’s death, claiming a close associate named Ben, who was deeply involved with Ochekwo, attempted to mislead investigators. He also disclosed that several civilians were arrested and falsely accused of killing Ochekwo, but they denied the allegations in his presence.
The activist further narrated his trip to Benue State with one of Ochekwo’s acquaintances, Ochiegbu Marvelous, to see the fugitive’s remains. He spoke of constant threats, rejected bribes, and attempts to compromise him at Continental Hotel, Abuja. He also accused some police officers of complicity, noting that they were later detained and released.
Gwamnishu emphasized that Celine and Afiba’s families still hold on to prophecies suggesting the women are alive. He also confirmed that Ochekwo’s family petitioned against him, accusing him of involvement in Ochekwo’s death, which led to his arrest and bail.
He urged authorities to conduct a DNA test and autopsy on the decomposed body found in Aba to ascertain the true identity. He also linked the mysterious killing of a police operative, nicknamed Mad-Dog, to the case.
Condemning the continued silence from the Nigeria Police Force, Gwamnishu warned that it only fuels suspicions of a cover-up or conspiracy.
“It is my sincere desire that the police release their report to the public so that Afiba’s and Celine’s families can finally have closure,” he declared.
