Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, and his wife of 15 years, Yvonne Lameen Ikhana daughter of ex-Nigerian international Kadiri Ikhana have gone their separate ways in what insiders describe as a messy and shocking divorce.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2008, had once seemed inseparable. In September 2021, Yvonne joyfully celebrated her 40th birthday, sharing photos on social media with the caption: “This was meant to be an actual family portrait, but we chose to be naturally happy instead.”
However, sources revealed that the marriage had been plagued with irreconcilable differences for years, culminating in a bitter court battle that was finalized over a year ago. Insiders allege that Yvonne could no longer endure the heartbreak that came with her husband’s alleged rampant infidelity. Reports claim that Yakubu’s philandering stretched beyond acquaintances, with even some of Yvonne’s “close friends” allegedly involved.
According to whispers from the couple’s circle, Yakubu’s generosity with cash made him an easy target, as some trusted friends reportedly “pimped” others to him — a betrayal that deeply devastated Yvonne. Despite allegedly being aware of his randy lifestyle before marriage, Yvonne was said to have reached her breaking point after years of enduring the humiliation.
In the end, the court granted Yvonne a huge settlement. Although Yakubu reportedly fought to keep the marriage, he was left with no choice but to comply with the court’s ruling.
The former couple is said to no longer be on speaking terms, and those close to them admit that any form of reconciliation looks highly unlikely.
