A tragic accident occurred on Saturday, October 4, 2025, along the Onitsha–Owerri Road in Ihiala, Anambra State, leaving several people feared dead and many others injured.
According to eyewitness accounts, the crash involved multiple vehicles, including a commercial bus and a truck, leading to a chaotic scene that drew the attention of passersby and local residents.
Emergency responders, including personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and local security operatives, were said to have arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to assist in rescuing victims and clearing the wreckage.
One eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Chinedu, described the crash as “a horrifying scene.”
“It happened so fast. I think one of the vehicles lost control and rammed into others. People were screaming everywhere. Some were trapped inside their vehicles,” he recounted emotionally.
As of press time, authorities had yet to release the official number of casualties, but residents say several occupants of the vehicles involved may have lost their lives.
