Former senator and spokesperson of the 2023 PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Dino Melaye, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the reported pardon granted to 70 convicted drug lords, describing the move as “unprecedented in history.”

In a statement shared on Sunday, Melaye expressed outrage at the alleged development, saying it has rendered the efforts of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) meaningless.

Pardon granted 70 drug lords by President Tinubu is unprecedented in history. Checks have revealed that it has never happened in the history of the world,” Melaye said.

The former lawmaker, known for his outspoken political commentary, said the decision undermines Nigeria’s anti-drug war and discredits years of progress made by the NDLEA in combating narcotics trafficking and abuse.

My advice to the President is to scrap the NDLEA. His action has made a beautiful nonsense of all the efforts of the agency since inception,” he added.
