Former Anambra state governor and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi has filed a ₦1.5 billion defamation lawsuit against activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju over a series of allegedly defamatory posts on social media.
The suit was Filed on October 3, 2025
at the High Court in Anambra State, Onitsha Judicial Division
Peter Obi seeks ₦500 million in aggravated damages and ₦1 billion in general damages
with claims that the posts were “false, baseless, malicious, scandalous, and defamatory.
He is also seeking a perpetual injunction to prevent further publications, along with a public apology in three national newspapers.
