Military Leadership: General Musa Pulls Out Of The Nigerian Army After 39 Years Of Service

The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has formally retired from the Nigerian Army after 39 years of meritorious service.

A pulling-out parade was held in his honour at the Nigerian Army Parade Ground to mark the end of his military career.
The ceremony, which is a long-standing tradition of the Armed Forces, symbolized his official exit from active service.

In his farewell address, General Musa expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as Chief of Defence Staff.
He also appreciated officers and men of the Armed Forces for their commitment and sacrifices in defending the nation.

The retired General paid tribute to his wife and children for their support throughout his years of service, describing them as his source of strength during difficult times.

General Musa urged officers and soldiers to remain loyal, disciplined, and dedicated to national service. He commended the Nigerian people, particularly the youth, for their resilience and faith in the military, as well as the media and other security agencies for their cooperation in promoting national security.

He stated that although he is retiring from active duty, his love and commitment to Nigeria remain strong.

The event was organized under the leadership of the new Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and featured a parade, salute to the colours, and a ceremonial final drive past, all hallmarks of military tradition for distinguished officers
