Tanzania’s President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has been declared President-elect after securing a landslide victory in the country’s general election held on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
According to official results released by the Tanzania Electoral Commission, Suluhu, who contested under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, polled 31.9 million votes, representing 97.66% of the total votes cast.
Her overwhelming victory extends her leadership after first assuming office in 2021, following the death of former President John Magufuli.
In her victory speech, Suluhu thanked Tanzanians for their trust and pledged to continue promoting national unity, women’s empowerment, and economic stability.
“This victory belongs to every Tanzanian. Together, we will continue to build a strong, peaceful, and prosperous nation,” she said.
