Do Not Test Trump’s Resolve — U.S. Congressman Threatens Action Against Nigerian Government

A U.S. lawmaker, Riley Moore, has issued a stern warning to the Nigerian government, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take immediate and decisive action to end the ongoing killings of Christians in the country.

In a statement shared via social media, Moore referenced former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments on Nigeria, saying the United States “will no longer look the other way” if the violence continues.

“To the Government of Nigeria and President Tinubu,” Moore wrote, “President Trump has provided forewarning if you do not correct the current state of inaction to stop the killing of our brothers and sisters in Christ. The days of the U.S. looking the other way are over it will never happen on Trump’s watch.”

He urged Nigerian authorities to “cooperate with us in preventing this atrocity that worsens every day,” emphasizing that the U.S. wants peace for all Nigerians, “especially Christians.”

“The President has been clear. I would not test his resolve. Many have tried and all have failed,” Moore cautioned, adding, “We will not allow the gates of hell to prevail against the faithful.”

Moore’s statement comes amid growing international attention on religiously motivated violence and insecurity in parts of Nigeria. His remarks follow Trump’s controversial threat to launch military action in Nigeria to “protect Christians,” a statement that has drawn mixed reactions from Nigerian political and religious circles.

While some have welcomed the warning as a show of solidarity with persecuted Christians, others, including activist Omoyele Sowore, have condemned it as dangerous foreign interference that could destabilize the country further.
