Joint security forces led by the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 15 kidnapped victims from the forest hideouts of their abductors in the Ajaokuta and Itobe areas of Kogi State.

Akelicious gathered that the coordinated operation was launched following credible intelligence on the location of the captives. Security operatives were said to have deployed tear gas to dislodge the kidnappers before advancing into the bush to free the victims.

Those rescued include Joe Stephen (35), Gift Alex, Samaila Mohamed, Sani Mahamud, Abbas Sani, Abdullahi Aminu, Ibrahim Gambo, Ishaku Ibrahim, and Muhammed Salisu. Six additional victims were evacuated and are currently receiving medical care at various hospitals.

Security sources confirmed that statements have been obtained from the rescued individuals, while investigations to track down the fleeing kidnappers are ongoing.

In a separate operation along the Ayere–Kabba Road, security operatives also rescued three victims — Usman from Nasarawa State, Isah Idris from Niger State, and Morina William from Gombe State — who were abducted on November 7 and held in a forest hideout.

Authorities have assured that efforts to rid Kogi State of criminal elements will be sustained.
