U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore has expressed deep concern over the abduction of 25 schoolgirls and the killing of a vice principal during an attack on Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.
Moore called for prayers for the missing girls and the repose of the soul of the slain school official, describing the incident as another devastating example of rising insecurity in Northern Nigeria.
He noted that the attack reportedly occurred in a predominantly Christian enclave, adding urgency to calls for the Nigerian government to strengthen security measures and curb rampant violence in the region.
Authorities in Kebbi State say security agencies are currently working to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted students.
