Bashir Ahmad Corrects U.S. Lawmaker on Kebbi School Attack, Warns Against Misleading Narratives

Bashir Ahmad and Moore

Late President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide, Bashir Ahmad, has issued a strong reaction to comments made by U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore regarding the recent abduction of 25 female students in Kebbi State. In a statement, Ahmad clarified that the attack did not take place in a Christian enclave, as suggested by Moore, and that the victims themselves are Muslims.

Ahmad stressed that such inaccuracies undermine the true understanding of Nigeria’s complex security challenges and could potentially worsen existing tensions in the country.

He further criticized what he described as “unholy narratives” that risk polarizing communities and weakening national unity.

While appreciating international concern and prayers for the abducted students, Ahmad emphasized the importance of getting facts right before making public statements on sensitive security incidents in Nigeria.

The Kebbi attack, which left the vice principal dead and several others injured, has once again drawn attention to the persistent insecurity affecting schools and communities in northern Nigeria.
