Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), has accused the Nigerian government of minimizing the scale of attacks and killings targeted at Christian communities across the country.
Speaking during an interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, Rev. Dachomo said he has personally overseen more than 70 mass burials, including graves containing over 500 victims killed in a single night. He alleged that the true extent of the violence has been consistently underreported due to what he described as the dominance of Islamic interests within the government.
The cleric also disputed the Nigerian government’s claim that Muslims are the primary victims of extremist attacks. According to him, a fact-finding mission conducted by church leaders revealed that Boko Haram was founded by top government officials with the intention of destabilizing the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, a Christian.
Rev. Dachomo further stated that the extremist group systematically targeted Christian communities, leading to widespread killings, displacement, and destruction across numerous villages.
He called on the international community to acknowledge the scale of the crisis and to intervene in what he described as an ongoing campaign of targeted violence against Christians in Nigeria.
