Fourteen passengers travelling from Owerri to Aba were abducted on Thursday in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State.
Eyewitnesses who recorded the aftermath of the incident said the victims were taken by armed men after their commercial bus was forced to a stop along the busy route. A video circulating online shows motorists who had fled during the attack cautiously returning to the road, where the abandoned bus remained with its doors open.
In a separate video believed to be from another kidnapping incident in the same area, a Lexus SUV is seen riddled with bullet holes and its windshields completely shattered. Onlookers can be heard expressing shock as they survey the damage, recounting how the occupants narrowly escaped when gunmen opened fire during an attempted abduction.
