Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), PhD, CON, has marked her 55th birthday with a heartfelt message of gratitude and a renewed call for unity, strengthened security, and purposeful national development.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, Ekwunife expressed deep appreciation to God for the “priceless gift of life, sustaining grace, and the rare privilege of service.” She described her birthday as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s progress.

The former lawmaker thanked her husband, Larry, her children, family members, friends, and associates for their unwavering support throughout her public service journey. “Your belief in me has made every success possible,” she said.

Ekwunife used the occasion to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria built on mutual respect, tolerance, and shared national values. She emphasized that sincere service to others brings fulfilment, noting that compassion, integrity, and fairness remain essential to strengthening communal bonds and driving sustainable development.

As the Yuletide season approaches, she urged Nigerians—particularly communities and travellers—to remain vigilant, prioritize safety, and exercise moderation. She also called on security agencies to intensify surveillance and adopt proactive measures to protect lives and property, especially at churches and other places of worship.

Ekwunife further stressed the need for enhanced collaboration between the Federal Government, state governments, and Local Government authorities. Improved coordination and intelligence sharing among security agencies, she said, are vital to reinforcing Nigeria’s internal security architecture and safeguarding its global credibility.

Reaffirming her lifelong dedication to public service, the senator pledged to continue advocating for equity, justice, inclusion, and sustainable development. She prayed for divine guidance, good health, and strength to keep contributing to national progress.

“Service remains my calling,” she said, vowing to support initiatives that uplift communities and expand opportunities for current and future generations.
