Notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has confirmed that he held peace talks with officials of the Zamfara State Government during the administration of former governor Bello Matawalle, now Minister of State for Defence.
While acknowledging the discussions, Turji firmly denied claims that he received ₦30 million as part of the negotiations. He described the allegation as false and malicious, calling for the arrest and investigation of those spreading the report.
Turji’s admission has once again drawn attention to the controversial engagements between bandit leaders and government officials, raising fresh concerns about transparency, accountability, and the broader management of insecurity in the region.
