Popular social media activist and influencer, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has revealed that Grammy Award–winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy gifted him $100,000 (approximately ₦145–150 million) to support humanitarian causes across the country.

According to VDM, the donation is targeted at freeing inmates who have been imprisoned for years over their inability to pay minor fines, as well as settling hospital bills for indigent patients in government and public hospitals.

VDM disclosed that $50,000 (about ₦75 million) has been earmarked for the payment of fines for prisoners, many of whom are reportedly detained over amounts as low as ₦30,000, ₦50,000, or ₦300,000. He added that the initiative is expected to give many inmates a “fresh start” ahead of 2026.

The remaining $50,000 (₦75 million), he said, will be used to clear outstanding medical bills for patients who have been unable to leave hospitals due to unpaid fees.

He further stated that the funds are currently in his custody, while proper documentation and verification processes are being put in place. VDM noted that he intends to collate data on fined prisoners across all 36 states of Nigeria to ensure fair and transparent distribution of the funds, with a similar process planned for hospital beneficiaries.

Expressing gratitude, VeryDarkMan thanked Burna Boy for the gesture, praising the singer for his trust and commitment to humanitarian causes.
