The Dajoh family has officially announced the marriage of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to his new wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh.
The announcement was made on Friday via a Facebook post by a family member, Abraham Double-d Dajoh, who described the union as a joyful addition to the Dajoh family. In the statement, the family warmly welcomed Queen Zaynab, referring to her as an “uncommon wife,” and expressed gratitude to supporters of the SGF for their continued goodwill.
The family also extended a symbolic welcome to Queen Zaynab into Benue State, popularly known as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” Mbakor, regarded as the seat of Tiv leadership, and the Dajoh family home. They concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year.
Several photographs accompanying the post showed Queen Zaynab in the company of members of the Dajoh family, sparking widespread reactions across social media platforms.
Queen Zaynab, formerly known as Zaynab Otiti Obanor, was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. Their traditional marriage took place in March 2016 in Benin City, Edo State, followed by ceremonies in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The union, which attracted significant public attention, ended in 2017 after about 17 months.
At the time, Queen Zaynab publicly confirmed the separation, dismissing rumours surrounding the collapse of the marriage and stating her intention to focus on humanitarian work. She later relocated to Doha, Qatar, and reports in subsequent years linked her to a wealthy Arab prince, with whom she was said to have welcomed a daughter in 2022.
Her marriage to Senator George Akume now marks a new chapter, drawing fresh attention to the personal life of the nation’s top government official.
