Efforts are ongoing to secure the release of students from Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, who were recently arrested by the Edo State Police following protests over insecurity in the state.
While the majority of the students’ actions were reportedly peaceful, some were accused of breaking into local shops and looting goods, drawing criticism from members of the public. Social commentator VeryDarkMan reacted to the situation, saying:
“We are currently working on the release of the Ekpoma students arrested by the Edo police. Some of the students burst people’s shops and looted their wares, which is not fair at all, but hopefully they’ll be out soon.”
