Bandits Kill Two, Abduct One in Niger Community

Armed bandits have killed two persons and abducted another in Kachiwe community, Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, police sources have confirmed.

The attack reportedly occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on January 20, when the assailants invaded the community in large numbers.

Eyewitnesses said the bandits shot and killed Ango Abdulkarim, 25, and Abdulkarim Isah, 54, before abducting one Meyaku Ibrahim, 28.

All the victims were Fulani and residents of Kachiwe community.

Security sources disclosed that the incident was reported at about 9:30 a.m., prompting the deployment of Army troops, supported by police operatives and local vigilantes, to the area.

However, by the time the security teams arrived, the attackers had fled the scene.

“The corpses of the two victims were recovered and, at the request of their relatives, released for burial,” the sources said.

The sources added that security agencies had intensified intelligence gathering and monitoring in the area to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted victim.
