FCT Workers Vow to Continue Strike Regardless of Court Order

They described it as a “Stay at home” action and would only be resuming duties after their needs are met.

The protest which has been on for a few days, with the workers chanting for the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to be sacked if their needs weren’t met, was brought to a halt following an order by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria on Tuesday, January 27th 2026.

According to the group, The major issues include the non-payment of outstanding promotion arrears, delays in the conduct and release of promotion exercises, and what they stated as the prolonged extension in service for retired directors and permanent secretaries,which was blocking career progression for serving officers.

The workers further alleged that the administration failed to remit mandatory statutory deductions, including pension contributions and National Housing Fund payments, cautioning that this gap could threaten the long-term welfare of affected staff.
