ESWAMA

The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced that the first environmental sanitation exercise for the year 2026 will take place on Saturday, January 31, from 7:00am to 10:00am across the state.

In a public service announcement issued on Friday, ESWAMA stated that there will be a strict restriction of movement for both individuals and vehicles during the exercise. Only persons on essential duties will be allowed to move, provided they present valid identification or an official ESWAMA pass.

The authority warned that a Mobile Environmental Court will be deployed along major routes during the sanitation period, adding that defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted without delay.

ESWAMA further directed that all early morning sporting activities, as well as loading and off-loading of passengers in motor parks and other commercial activities statewide, must be suspended for the duration of the clean-up.

Calling on residents to actively participate, ESWAMA urged Ndị Enugu to see the exercise as a collective responsibility aimed at maintaining cleanliness and promoting a healthier environment in the state.

Residents with enquiries were advised to contact ESWAMA via 08135534440.

The statement was signed by the Managing Director of ESWAMA, Richard Onaga.

“ESWAMA: A Cleaner Tomorrow, Today,” the authority reaffirmed.
