Gunmen Abduct Woman, Two-Year-Old Daughter in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has launched a manhunt following the abduction of a woman and her two-year-old daughter in Funakaye Local Government Area of the state.

Sources said the incident was reported on Sunday at about 8:30 a.m. at the Ribadu Police Outstation by Alhaji Umaru of Iyola Village, Ribadu Ward.

According to the sources, the victims—Inna Wuro Alhaji Umaru, 42, and her daughter, Goggo Alhaji Umaru, aged two—were abducted by six armed hoodlums who stormed their residence at about 2:45 a.m. before fleeing to an unknown location.

Police sources said the scene of the incident was immediately visited by security operatives, while a coordinated search operation was launched.

“The Divisional Patrol Team, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Vigilante Group and hunters have been mobilised, and efforts are being intensified to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators,” the command said.

The police added that investigation into the abduction has commenced, urging members of the public to provide any useful information that could aid in the rescue of the victims and the arrest of the suspects.
