Isaac Fayose Reacts as G-5 Rift Deepens, Says Betrayal Has No Lasting Victory

Isaac Fayose

Social commentator and PDP chieftain, Isaac Fayose, has reacted to the growing cracks within the G-5 governors’ bloc that once shook Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a post circulating online, Fayose suggested that the same forces that weakened the PDP are now turning against themselves, claiming that internal power plays—particularly those linked to Rivers State politics—have left former allies at odds.

“The G-5 that destroyed the biggest party in Africa (PDP) are now destroying themselves,” Fayose wrote, adding in Yoruba slang that Nyesom Wike has effectively outmaneuvered his former allies. His comment was laced with humour and satire but carried a pointed political message.

While some online reactions interpreted his remarks as suggesting political superiority of one group over others, Fayose stopped short of making direct ethnic claims, instead stressing the transient nature of political alliances.

“Nothing lasts forever,” he added, concluding with a moral note that betrayal (ọ̀tẹ́) often ends the same way eventually consuming those who practice it.
